Recently my family started a fast where we cut out Soy, Dairy, Gluten and Corn products from our diets for three weeks. We’re currently in the middle of the second week and going strong. The biggest struggle I found when starting this drastic diet was that I felt deprived of everything that I used to eat so frequently. I am an avid snacker, and usually don’t eat huge meals, so when the only thing I could eat was dinner, it became very stressful. Lucky enough for you, I have found a collection of allergen free snacks that are tasty, quick, and will tide you over till your next meal.
Cape Cod Chips
These chips are not only delicious, but are also made from all natural ingredients. The ingredient list on a bag of Waffle Cut Sea Salt chips are as follows: Potatoes, Canola Oil, and Sea Salt. Thats It! Nothing crazy, and nothing I can’t pronounce. I highly suggest these chips if your a big snacker like me. *Note: other varieties in this brand may contain Gluten, or Corn so if you are sensitive, double check all of the ingredients first.
Simply Balanced line, exclusively at Target
This brand has been a lifesaver this past week and it just keeps on getting better. We have tried fruit strips & various juices from this brand and all of them have been delicious. We have checked the labels of the Apple Juice and Strawberry & Wild Berry fruit strips and both are clean, but we have also seen some products from this line such as the chips, that do include Corn oil or something else we cannot eat. I urge you to always check the label before ingesting something you have never eaten before, especially if you have a food allergy or sensitivity.
Blue Diamond Roasted/Salted Almonds.
I have mentioned these in a previous post because they are just so darn delicious! These obviously are not safe for someone with a Nut allergy, but for someone on a limited diet, they are perfect. If you have a low tolerance for fat I would be careful with these considering that they do have 16g of fat for every 28 nuts.
If your a fan of PB&J’s this my friend is the snack for you. Simply spread peanut butter on top of a lightly salted rice cake, and then layer the jelly on top. These are also good with just peanut butter or just jelly. You need to make sure that you get jelly without high fructose corn syrup and natural peanut butter without high fructose corn syrup or hydrogenated oils.
Thats it! Those are all my suggestions. You can also eat raw veggies such as carrots dipped in peanut butter or natural apple sauce! I hope that y’all get some inspiration from this, and are able to find some clean foods if you have any allergies or intolerance’s. If you do have any allergies and have good snack suggestions, leave them down in the comments! Happy Eating!
